Associate Professor
Phone: 615-322-2540Dr. Patricia A. Labosky joined the Vanderbilt Center for Stem Cell Biology (VCSCB) in September of 2006 as its second faculty recruit. Trish earned her Ph.D. from Wesleyan University, and did her postdoctoral training here at Vanderbilt University. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, until we successfully recruited her to Vanderbilt. Dr. Labosky's research focuses on studying genes that control normal development of the mammalian embryo. In particular is the Fox family transcription factors, such as Foxd3, which expresses ubiquitously in the early mouse embryo, and later in multipotent neural crest cells and the pancreas. Her studies are providing valuable new insights about the specification and maintenance of embryonic stem cells (ES Cells), and aim towards trying to understand the molecular control of stem cell fate.
