Our pancreas-specific MafA null mice exhibited glucose intolerance by IPGTT during postnatal period, whereas there is no histological changing between KO and WT mice until 7 days, indicating that a phenotype closely is reminiscent of beta cell dysfunction found in human type 2 diabetes. We predict that MafA has been involved in beta cell function in postnatal period.
