I’m originally from a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I got my bachelor’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University in May of 2006 in Biological Sciences, after a brief stint as a Chemical Engineering major. While at CMU, I was a teaching assistant in the biological sciences department and performed research with Dr. Amy Csink studying the chromatin structure in Drosophila. I came to Vanderbilt as part of the IGP program in 2006. After completing 3 other rotations, I decided to join the Labosky Lab in March of 2007. I will be working on understanding the role of the stem cell gene Foxd3 in pancreas physiology and beta-cell maintenance. My work is funded by a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Research Grant, and I am on the Molecular Endocrinology Training Program training grant here at Vanderbilt.
