Before coming to Vanderbilt, I received my B.S. in Chemistry from Lee University in 2005. While at Lee, I was a teaching assistant in the Chemistry Department and enjoyed a semester abroad studying at Cambridge University in England. Since Lee was limited in its undergraduate research opportunities, I pursued summer research programs at NASA: Marshall Space Flight Center and The University of Alabama: Huntsville. In August 2005, I entered the Chemical and Physical Biology Program at Vanderbilt and eventually joined the Magnuson Lab in 2006. My project focuses on the directed differentiation of human embryonic stem cells to pancreatic fates, as well as characterizing multipotent pancreatic progenitor populations.
