Rederivation

This service is used when transgenic or knockout mouse lines that are cryopreserved need to be reconstituted or when embryos are shipped to Vanderbilt from investigators or collaborators extermal to Vanderbilt.

This service is initiated when an investigator fills out a request form. Upon scheduling, the Transgenic Mouse/ES Cell Shared Resource will thaw a vial of embryos and then transfer them into a pathogen free pseudopregnant recipient animal. When pups are at a weanable age, core personnel will number and tail them for screening.

The investigator is required to provide a current animal care protocol number for the housing of mice, to screen the tails within 1 month of receipt and to notify facility personnel of the screening results.

The current charge for rederivations is $1,310 per line. Three core personnel are capable of performing this service.
